#NoWorksheetWeek

Through my weekly web scouring, I came across this little gem of a teacher movement. Of course there is a time and place for almost all teaching strategies, this is a good challenge to attempt - especially in a technology-rich district. Check out the following slideshow that slightly explains the idea behind #NoWorksheetWeek, which runs from April 7th - 11th. The slideshow attempts to spark your interest and link you to the idea through the web and online communities involved in this "movement."

  1. Thanks for your support, Dan! It's amazing the support this little 'challenge' for my staff has found across the country from folks like you. I'm looking forward to making this an annual event.

    1. I'm glad to help, and I definitely want to help pass the idea along. #NoWorksheetWeek should become an annual event, but let's hope that it only takes one week to get teachers to stray from a classroom filled with worksheets, packets, and all manners busy work. Let's give students an abiding thirst for knowledge rather than a worksheet to promote rote learning.

Keep spreading your challenge around for everyone to participate and thanks for the comment.

  2. Great post Dan. I am hoping to have these challenges several times a year. I think that working together, teachers can motivate and support each other to change the classroom for our students.

  3. Dan, I love that you pulled these ideas together and how this shows the power of being a connected educator! We touched on #noworksheetweek in chat last night and I definitely want to get the challenge (or should I now refer to it as a movement?) out to the rest of the state. I like Rae's idea of repeating the challenge throughout the year. In fact, I'd like to get us talking about no digital equivalents of worksheets.
